Chris-Chris came home last night…What a great feeling!
He’s still going to be treated with antibiotics. Jas and I picked up Nursing 101 and I tell you, we’re almost as good as those RNs…hahaha.
Surprisingly, his doctors don’t think it’s related to his surgery or his biliary system. Chris’ labs didn’t jump all over the place like last time so at this point, he’s being treated for “bacterium”. My baby has seemingly stumped the doctors. That one-of-a-kind lil boy!
I wanted to thank you for keeping us in your thoughts, your prayers, and for your well wishes. It’s great to know we’re not going through it alone and to rekindle our hope that he’ll be okay.
We’ll be taking it day by day…

It feels like someone socked me in the stomach…
Christopher was admitted yet again to the hospital yesterday…yes, on Halloween! Even though this was our 3rd time admitted in six weeks, this time it was different. My baby was not feeling well – cranky, lethargic, heaving breathing, no appetite and the reason why we went and been going to the hospital: temperature over 103 degrees. With these symptoms, I hoped it was just a bug…a flu bug that every one gets and gets over. And my suspicions were correct according to the labs…no elevated bilirubin = no colangitis.
Yet, today Jas called me and the words, “blood infection,” sent my heart racing. “Gotta call you back, hon. The doctor thinks it’s a blood infection.”
My instincts kicked into gear, I googled the unknown and my research tied knots in my stomach.
“A Common Bacterium Leads to Serious Blood Infection”
“Although this blood illness is relatively rare, it’s also potentially serious”
“Sepsis is a blood infection that can lead to shock and death”
“Research to discover new treatments for sepsis have failed over the past 20-30 years”
They do not know which type of bacterium is causing the blood infection yet. Chris’ blood cultures have yet to name the culprit. As for my lil soldier, he’s doing great. “Gums” is still smiling…
Jas and I are physically, emotionally, and mentally drained – to think of losing a son, a half of a twin – have no words to describe that feeling.
