Today we brought Chris-Chris home!
After all we’ve been through, it was surreal – I thought we were going to get a permanent mailing address at UCSF!
This is better than winning the lottery! This is better than going on vacation (although one is desperately needed)! This is better than the chocolate slice of cake I had for dinner!
Gotta go…precious moments to make. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts in bringing our baby home.

God must have heard my pleas of desperation because today was a better day.
The big event of the day was for Christopher to go down to surgery to place the Broviac line in his chest. Christopher would need a central line to accommodate the frequent blood draws in clinic – twice a week visits to the doctor. Ok, yesterday I talked about the surgery like it was nothing but after he was wheeled down and I said “See you later,” I realized any type of surgery, no matter how minor, can cause serious complications.
Thankfully, after a couple of hours, we got the call that Christopher was recovering down in the OR recovery room. Jason and I got there and Christopher was crying from starvation. We got the OK to feed him and he polished off 3 cans of apple juice and seemed content. It was a very good sign. I put my hand to his forehead – no temperature. Thank you! Were we really going to go home tomorrow?
We got back to our room and Christopher ate dinner and snack and another snack. Boy, can he eat! He’s going to be my lil piggy in no time! He already has the steroid cheeks which are fuller than the moon!
The nurse just pulled his IV out and as I said before, the less lines Christopher has signifies us closer to going home. Are we really going home?
I just checked his forehead again – no temperature.
Tonight will be a sleepless night. Let’s see what will unfold.
